Coffee beans are grown across the "bean belt" in all shapes, forms, and types.
In all these variations, each "berry" contains two beans pushing one against the other. BUT! In about 5% of all coffees grown worldwide, a defect results in the fertilisation of only one coffee bean!
As a result, a beautiful mutation known as "peaberry" is born, where only a beautiful single bean is fertilised in each berr
Some argue that this results in a sweeter, more rounded cup, others argue there are no real difference between peaberries and other types
Differences aside, we bring you a wonderful Peaberry from Tanzania, grown by the Leyla Farmers Group.
This coffee is grown on the Highlands of Mbeya, by the Lyela Coffee Group, a cooperative of some 190 farmers.
Dark roasted to get the most pronounced flavour.
